AUGUSTANA VIKING WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

AUGUSTANA (7-3, 1-1 North Central Conference) resumes conference play on Friday, December 29, when the University of South Dakota (6-3, 1-1) invades the Elmen Center. Game time is 6:00 p.m.

The Vikings entertain Morningside College (3-6, 0-2) in NCC action on Saturday, December 30, in the Elmen Center. Game time is 6:00 p.m.

AUGUSTANA built a 41-35 half time lead and posted a 77-73 win over Rockhurst University (4-5) in non-conference action Tuesday, December 19, in Kansas City, Mo.

Augie shot 44 percent, while the hosts shot 40 percent. The Vikings won the rebound battle 37-34.

Nicole Tendler led the Vikings with 20 points. She was 7-for-11 from the field and 4-for-7 from 3-point range. She also contributed six rebounds, two assists, and a steal.

Tamera Oltmanns posted 15 points, six assists, four rebounds, and a steal.

Charissa Sheppard finished with 11 points, 10 rebounds, five blocked shots, and two steals.

Lonna Larson had 11 points, one assist, and one steal.

Brittani Janssen scored 10 points. She also had two rebounds, two assists, a blocked shot, and a steal.

The Vikings had 13 turnovers to 15 for Rockhurst.

BRITTANI JANSSEN, senior center, De Smet, S.D., has scored 1,045 points in her career at Augustana. She is 17th on the Vikings'all-time scoring chart.

VIKINGS STARTING LINEUP

DAVE KRAUTH is in his 12th season as the Vikings' head coach. He became Augustana's all-time winningest basketball coach during the 1996-97 season. He has compiled a 231-91 record. During his tenure, Augustana has appeared in seven NCAA Division II region tournaments. Krauth was named North Central Conference Coach of the Year in 1990, and the South Dakota Sportswriters' College Coach of the Year in 1994. He posted a 347-143 record as a high school coach at Tri-Valley in South Dakota and Roosevelt in Des Moines, Iowa. Eight of his high school teams qualified for state tournaments. Krauth graduated from The University of Sioux Falls in 1974. He received his master's degree from South Dakota State University in 1983.

Assistant coach MIKE JEWETT graduated from Augustana in 1994. He is the first full-time assistant coach in women's basketball at Augie. He was the varsity girls basketball coach at Brandon Valley High School for three seasons.
