Augustana Teams Return To Action

SIOUX FALLS - After a nine-day layoff, Augustana's women's and men's basketball teams resume action this weekend.

The Viking women (7-3) entertain the University of South Dakota (6-3) in North Central Conference action on Friday, December 29, in the Elmen Center's Hall Sports Forum. Game time is 6:00 p.m. Both teams are 1-1 in the conference. On Saturday, December 30, Augustana hosts Morningside College (3-7, 0-2). Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

Both women's games can be heard on KAUR-FM 89.1 with Jeff Fylling providing the play-by-play.

Julia Frie is averaging 14.3 points a game for South Dakota, which averages 75.9 points a game. Morningside is led by Trish Martin's 14.6 points a game. The Mustangs are averaging 70.3 points a game.

Tamera Oltmanns leads Augie scorers with 14.2 points a game, while Brittani Janssen averages 13.8. As a team, Augie is scoring 71.3 points a game.

The Augie men (6-4) will be looking for their first NCC win when South Dakota (8-1) invades the Hall Sports Forum for an 8:00 p.m. start Friday. The Vikings are 0-2 in the league, while the Coyotes own a share of the lead at 2-0.

Saturday night, Augie hosts Morningside College (7-3, 1-1) in NCC play beginning at 8:00 p.m.

Jeremy Kudera is averaging 14.4 points a game for USD. The Coyotes are averaging 85 points a game. Andrew Drevo leads Morningside's balanced attacked with a dozen points a game. Morningside averages 84.5 points a game.

Cody Levinson is averaging 15.9 points a game, and Jon Wagner 15.2 for Augie. The Vikings are averaging almost 89 points a game.

Both men's games can be heard on KIKN-FM 100.5 with Jeff Fylling calling the play-by-play.

Augustana's wrestling team (2-0) resumes action on January 5 when Augsburg College visits the Elmen Center for a 7:00 p.m. nonconference dual.
