AUGUSTANA VIKINGS MEN'S BASKETBALL

AUGUSTANA (5-1) is on the road this week for a pair of North Central Conference games.

The Vikings will be in Fargo, N.D., on Friday, December 8, to play North Dakota State University (6-0). Game time is 8:00 p.m.

Augustana plays the University of North Dakota (5-1) in Grand Forks on Saturday, December 9. Game time is 8:00 p.m.

COMING UP:

THE VIKINGS split two games played in the Hardee's Tip-Off Classic in Marshall, Minn.

Cody Levinson continued his hot shooting, making 7 of 10 shots, including 5-for-6 from 3-point range, to lead the Vikings with 21 points in an 87-84 over No. 21 Regis University.

Freshman guard Jon Wagner scored 17 points. He was 6-for-11 from the field and handed out eight assists. Shane Burnison finished with 13 points and four steals. Matt Wilber had 11 points. David Homan led Augie to a 32-30 rebound advantage with nine. Augie shot 57 percent from the field to 49 for Regis.

Host Southwest State outscored the Vikings 49-31 in the second half to post a 97-84 win. Jon Wagner, who was named to the all-tournament team, had 26 points for the Vikings, while Sean Hilgenberg added 17. David Homan and Cody Levinson each had 13 and Shane Burnison chipped in with 12. Homan had seven of Augie's 30 rebounds. Southwest had 40 rebounds.

PERRY FORD (47-45) is in his fourth season as the Vikings' head coach. He was the head coach at Southwest State University for two years, and at the University of Minnesota-Morris for 10 seasons. At Southwest he inherited a team that had won once in 25 games. He guided the Mustangs to an 18-9 record, setting a NCAA Division II record for the biggest turnaround in one season-17 games. He is the winningest coach in the history of the Minnesota-Morris program, compiling a career mark of 189-109. He guided Morris to the post-season playoffs eight of the 10 seasons. A native of Bismarck, N.D., Coach Ford received a bachelor's degree from Jamestown College in 1978. He earned a master's degree in education from the University of North Dakota in 1985.
