AUGUSTANA (6-4, 0-2 North Central Conference) is off until Friday, December 29, when it hosts the University of South Dakota (8-1, 2-0) in North Central Conference action. Game time is 8:00 p.m. in the Elmen Center.
The weekend continues with a NCC clash with Morningside College (7-3, 1-1) on Saturday, December 30. Game time is 8:00 p.m. in the Elmen Center.
COMING UP:
THE VIKINGS couldn't overcome a 52-37 half time deficit and lost 99-84 at Winona State University on Tuesday, December 19. Each team scored 47 points in the second half. Winona State (4-5) shot 61 percent from the field and made 60 percent (9-for-15) of its 3-point attempts. The hosts also won the rebound count, 31-28. Augustana made 32 of 40 free throws, while Winona was 20-for-29.
Sean Hilgenberg led Augustana with 18 points. He was 4-for-7 from the field and cashed in on all of his nine free throws. He also had four steals in 35 minutes of action.
Matt Wilber chipped in with 15 points, shooting 50 percent from the floor. Jon Wagner finished with 13 points and six assists. Shane Burnison had a dozen points.
Justin Vortherms led Augie rebounders with six.
The Vikings had 18 turnovers and Winona 15.

PERRY FORD (48-48) is in his fourth season as the Vikings' head coach. He was the head coach at Southwest State University for two years, and at the University of Minnesota-Morris for 10 seasons. At Southwest he inherited a team that had won once in 25 games. He guided the Mustangs to an 18-9 record, setting a NCAA Division II record for the biggest turnaround in one season--17 games. He is the winningest coach in the history of the Minnesota-Morris program, compiling a career mark of 189-109. He guided Morris to the post-season playoffs eight of the 10 seasons. A native of Bismarck, N.D., Coach Ford received a bachelor's degree from Jamestown College in 1978. He earned a master's degree in education from the University of North Dakota in 1985.
