SIOUX FALLS - Augustana College wide receiver Matt Holmlund, Benson, Minn., has been named to the first team of the Associated Press Little All-America football team announced December 19.
The team, chosen from players in Division II and III and the NAIA, consists of 18 seniors and eight juniors. The other receivers chosen were Clarence Coleman of Ferris State, and Adam Marino of Division III national champion Mount Union.
Holmlund, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound junior, averaged 9.5 receptions a game to lead Division II for the 2000 season. He has set Augustana school records for touchdown receptions in a season (16), career touchdown receptions (28), receptions in a season (104), career receptions (222), receiving yards in a season (1,365), and career receiving yards (2,696).
Holmlund also owns three North Central Conference records-receptions in a season (77), career receptions (179), and touchdown receptions in a season (12).
Holmlund has also been named to the American Football Coaches Association Division II All-America team, and the 2000 Daktronics All-Midwest Region Team.
