SIOUX FALLS - Augustana College Coach Kim Sudbeck-Marcil has been selected as the 2000 North Central Region Coach of the Year.
Sudbeck-Marcil is one of eight coaches named as Tachikara/American Volleyball Coaches Association region coaches of the year. Each of the honorees will represent their region on the national coach of the year ballot. The awards will be officially presented at the Tachikara/AVCA Coach of the Year banquet December 14 in Richmond, Va.
Now in her sixth year at Augustana, Sudbeck-Marcil has guided the Vikings to a 28-3 record. Augie is making its fifth appearance in the NCAA Division II playoffs, and has earned its first berth in the Elite Eight. This season the Vikings earned a share of the North Central Conference championship for the third time, and won their first North Central Region crown.
Currently, Augustana is ranked No. 6 in the AVCA poll and held the No. 2 position for nine weeks. The Vikings hold a 12-3 record this season against teams ranked in the top 25. Augie has been ranked in the AVCA poll's top ten each of the last three years.
During her six seasons at Augie, Sudbeck-Marcil has compiled a 157-43 record.
