Jerstad is currently a member of the NCAA Division II Softball Committee as the North Central regional chair. She spent four years as a member of the NFCA Division II All-America and Coach of the Year Committee, including two years as chair. She currently serves on the NFCA Ethics Committee.

She is an associate professor of health and physical education at Augustana and has been a faculty member for 23 years.

Jerstad graduated from Saint Olaf College in 1966 with a major in English and minors in Spanish and history. She earned a physical education degree from Augustana in 1978.
