AUGUSTANA (20-1, 9-1 NCC) hosts North Dakota State University (6-4, 16-9) in North Central Conference action Tuesday, October 17. Game time is 7:00 p.m. in the Elmen Center.
The Vikings are back on the road this weekend for a pair of conference contests. They visit Saint Cloud State University (2-7, 6-15) on Friday, October 20, and Minnesota State, Mankato (2-7, 7-15) on Saturday, October 21.
IN THEIR LATEST action, the No. 2-nationally ranked Vikings defeated Morningside College and the University of South Dakota in North Central Conference action in the Elmen Center.
Lindsay Voss registered 14 kills and 14 digs to lead Augie past Morningside 15-8, 15-12, 15-6 on October 13. Katy Peterson had 10 kills, eight digs, and two block assists. Tara Boeve had nine kills and three block assists, Sara Larson had eight kills and 18 digs, and Lori Fossum had seven kills and three block assists. Kari Peterson had seven kills, 36 set assists, eight digs, and three block assists.
The Vikings defeated USD 15-4, 15-6, 16-14, on October 14. Voss had 19 kills, 18 digs, two service aces, and a block assist. Larson posted 15 kills and hit .591. Boeve had 10 kills and two block assists. Katy Peterson had nine kills and 13 digs. Kari Peterson had 53 set assists, 13 digs, two block assists, and a service ace. Kelli Vreeman had four kills and 11 digs. Jenny Ganahl had three service aces.
Earlier in the week Augie traveled to Marshall, Minn., and handed the Mustangs a 15-5, 15-2, 15-3 defeat. Boeve, who returned to the lineup last weekend, led the Vikings with eight kills and four block assists. She hit .467. Vreeman had seven kills, 11 digs, two block assists, and a service ace. Larson hit .467 with seven kills, ten digs and a service ace. Katy Peterson added seven kills, hit .583 and had a service ace. Kari Peterson had 35 set assists, six digs, two block assists and two service aces.
SENIOR OUTSIDE hitter Lindsay Voss has moved into second place in career kills at Augie with 1,391. She is third in digs with 1,355.
Katy Peterson now has 1,002 career kills, and Lori Fossum 976.
IN THE CONFERENCE, Augie is first in hitting (.293), kills (18.06 a game), assists (15.85), and digs (21.06).
Lori Fossum is first in hitting percentage (.345) and Kari Peterson leads in assists (14.68 a game).
AUGUSTANA has set a record for consecutive games won with 38. The previous mark of 16 was set a year ago.
AUGUSTANA is the recipient of the 1999-2000 American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award sponsored by Molten U.S.A. Inc. This award honors teams that have matched their dedication to the sport of volleyball with excellence in the classroom.

COACH KIM SUDBECK-MARCIL (149-41) is in her sixth season as the Vikings' head coach. She has guided the Vikings to two North Central Conference titles and four straight appearances in the NCAA Division II region playoffs. She was named NCC co-coach of the year in 1996 and 1997. She was a member of Augustana's 1991 national championship softball team and was named to the Final Four All-Tournament Team. She served as assistant volleyball coach at Sioux Falls O'Gorman High School, South Dakota State University, and Morningside College before becoming Augie's head coach.
STEPHANIE RADECKI is in her first year as Augie's assistant coach and instructor in health, physical education, and recreation. A graduate of Edinboro University, Edinboro, Pa., she was a graduate assistant coach at the University of North Alabama before joining the Viking staff. She was named Edinboro's Senior Female Athlete of the Year for 1996-97. She was the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 1996, and was named to the all-conference first team for two years. She was chosen to the Atlantic Region Team for two years, and served as Edinboro's team captain. With Radecki in the lineup, Edinboro made four appearances in the PSAC playoffs, was the league champion in 1994, won two regional crowns, and made two appearances in the Elite Eight.
