AUGUSTANA SOCCER
THE VIKINGS (4-9, 3-2 NCC) are on the road this weekend for a pair of North
Central Conference matches.
Augie visits Fargo, N.D., on Saturday, October 14, for an 11:00 a.m. match
with North Dakota State University (8-5, 4-1).
The Vikings will be in Grand Forks, N.D., on Sunday, October 15, to play the
University of North Dakota (8-4, 3-2) at 1:00 p.m.
AUGUSTANA was shut out twice last weekend in suffering its first North Central
Conference losses.
The University of Nebraska-Omaha scored with 53 seconds elapsed in the match
and downed the Vikings 15-0 in the cold and wind at Yankton Trails on Saturday.
Eleven different players scored for the Mavericks. UNO had 23 shots on goal to
none for Augie.
The University of Nortrhern Colorado blanked Augie 11-0 on Sunday, October
8, at Yankton Trails. The Bears had 28 shots on goal to none for the Vikings.
VIKING HEAD COACH Shelly Nelson graduated from Augustana in 1980. Nelson coached
track, volleyball, girls basketball, and boys basketball at the School for Deaf
in Sioux Falls between 1978 and 1982. She has been involved in the Sioux Falls
Soccer Association and has been a coach and manager in the Great Plains Soccer
Association.
