AUGUSTANA SOCCER

THE VIKINGS (4-15, 3-6 NCC) completed their inaugural season over the weekend.

The Vikings traveled to Sioux City, Iowa, on Saturday, October 28, for a rematch with Morningside College. The Mustangs, who lost to Augie 3-2 in overtime on September 24, rebounded to beat the Vikings 8-2. Jessica Scheller and Emily Estacion scored goals for Augustana. Morningside outshot the Vikings 23-18.

On Sunday, October 29, Augustana was shut out by Rockhurst University 3-0 at Yankton Trails. Rockhurst had 20 shots to Augie's eight.

SOPHOMORES Katie Hoffman, Harrisburg, SD, and Mollie Madden, Idaho Falls, ID, were selected to the inaugural All-North Central Conference Academic soccer team.

Junior Amanda Reynolds, Iowa City, IA, and freshman Jessica Scheller, Rapid City, SD, received honorable mention recognition.

VIKING HEAD COACH Shelly Nelson graduated from Augustana in 1980. Nelson coached track, volleyball, girls basketball, and boys basketball at the School for Deaf in Sioux Falls between 1978 and 1982. She has been involved in the Sioux Falls Soccer Association and has been a coach and manager in the Great Plains Soccer Association.
