Luther Scholar From the Netherlands to Speak at Augustana
SIOUX FALLS - Dr. Klaas Zwanepol, a Luther scholar from the Netherlands,
speaks at Augustana College on Monday, May 5.
He will speak at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Reconciliation on “The
Finger of God” based on Luke 11:14-28.
His lecture at 7:00 p.m. in the Morrison Commons 3-in-room is
titled, “A Human God: The Meaning of Jesus Christ for Luther.”
Zwanepol comes to Augustana as part of a lecture/study tour that
includes stops at Yale Divinity School, Luther Seminary, Marquette
University, Concordia University in Milwaukee, Concordia Seminary
in St. Louis, and the headquarters of the Evangelical Lutheran
Church in America (ELCA) in Chicago.
Currently professor of theology at the University of Utrecht,
Zwanepol has taught at the Reformed Theological Faculty at Kampen,
the University of Groningen, and the University of Amsterdam. As
a Luther scholar he has been chairman of the Interconfessional
Working Group for Luther Research in the Netherlands. He is now
chief editor of Luther Bulletin and also editor of Church and Theology.
Augustana is a liberal arts college of the ELCA. |
