Augustana Choir Presents Final Concert of the Year

SIOUX FALLS - The Augustana Choir, under the direction of Dr. James Johnson, performs their final concert of the academic year on Sunday, May 4.

The concert, also featuring the Augustana Chamber Choir, begins at 3:00 p.m. in the Augustana Chapel of Reconciliation. It is free and open to the public.

“Requiem,” a new work by composer Bradley Ellingboe, will be featured. Ellingboe, professor of voice and choral music at the University of New Mexico, has won awards for his choral compositions. He is the editor of two books of songs by the Norwegian composer, Edvard Grieg, and was created a Knight of the Royal Order of St. Olav by His Majesty King Harald VII of Norway.

This concerts marks the end of the 11th year of Dr. Johnson's leadership of the Augustana Choir. Under his direction, the Choir has continued its 83-year mission of bringing the finest in a capella sacred choral literature to audiences both home and abroad.
