Norwegian Family Ensemble in Concert at Augustana
SIOUX FALLS - The Habbestad Ensemble from Oslo, Norway, performs
at 7:30 p.m. Monday, February 17, in Kresge Recital Hall on the
campus of Augustana College. The performance is free and open to
the public.
The musical family includes Kjell Habbestad, composer and organist/pianist;
his wife, Elisabeth, vocalist; Ida, 22, who plays the flute; Ingvild,
19, who plays the violin and Hardanger fiddle; and Eriend, 19,
who plays the cello. Ida, Ingvild, and Eriend are studying at the
Music Academy in Oslo.
The family is performing at the 15th annual Nobel Peace Prize
Forum at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn., February 14-15.
In previous appearances in the United States, the Habbestads have
given concerts from New York to Seattle. Last summer they gave
21 concerts and participated in seven services in Illinois, South
Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana,
and Ohio.
Kjell Habbestad's list of compositions includes two operas, an
oratorio, and church music.
