Augustana Hosts Spring Dance for Exceptional Children

SIOUX FALLS - The annual Augustana Student Council for Exceptional Children's (SCEC) spring dance is Friday, May 9, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the Morrison Commons Back Alley.

About 70 youth with disabilities in grades six through post-high school are the guests of honor. The students are from the special education classrooms in Sioux Falls' five middle schools and three high schools, Sioux Falls Community Campus for students 18-21, Children's Care Hospital and School, and Southeastern Behavior Care program.

Augustana SCEC members and other volunteers help provide one-to-one assistance for those students with disabilities who require it, and they help provide a safe and fun environment for youth with disabilities to share their “spirit” with Augie students. Staff from several agencies accompany those students with more severe disabilities so all can have a good time.
