Ammann to Present at Midwest Clinic in Chicago
SIOUX FALLS - Dr. Bruce Ammann, director of bands at Augustana College, has been selected to present a workshop at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic to be held December 14-18 in Chicago, Ill.
Dr. Ammann, who directs the Augustana Band and the Augustana College/Community Band, will present a session on "Rehearsing Adults vs. Rehearsing Students."
The Augustana College/Community Band currently has 104 members - 62 community members and 42 college students. Dr. Ammann is a founder and the band's principal conductor. His workshop will compare and contrast rehearsal content, time limitations, and teaching and rehearsing strategies for adults and college students.
Dr. Ammann is director of the Augustana Music Camp for all music students, he is a past conductor of the Sioux Falls Municipal Band, and has directed the Dakota Wind Ensemble, a new 54-member regional wind and percussion ensemble, in two concerts.
The Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic exists to raise the standards of music education; to improve the methods employed in music education; to develop new teaching techniques; and to disseminate to school music teachers, directors, supervisors, and others interested in music education information to assist in their professional work.
Dr. Ammann joined the Augustana Music Department in 1989. |
