Center for Western Studies Fantle Building Wins Design Award

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Center for Western Studies Fantle Building has received a 2003 Merit Award for its design from the American Institute of Architects South Dakota.

The building, with its unique truncated tipi entrance and exterior of natural Mankato Limestone, was completed in 2001.

The 21,000-square-foot Fantle Building on Augustana's campus was designed by Koch Hazard Baltzer Architects and houses the Center's growing archival and library collection as well as the Fantle Scandinavian Exhibit, the Froiland Plains Indian Exhibit, and the Jim Savage Woodcarving Studio and Exhibit.

Various art collections are on exhibit in CWS art gallery.
