Nancy Davidson Appointed Dean of Admission

SIOUX FALLS - Augustana College President Bruce Halverson has announced the appointment of Nancy Davidson as Dean of Admission effective August 1.

Davidson has been a member of the Augustana admission staff since 1990, most recently as director of freshman enrollment. She is a graduate of Hamlin High School in Hayti, S.D., and earned a degree is business administration from Southwest State University in Marshall, Minn. She worked for Maurices before accepting a position at Augustana as an admission representative.

She succeeds Bob Preloger, who is leaving Augustana after 11 years to join The Lawlor Group, a full-service brand management and integrated marketing communications firm that works almost exclusively with private colleges and universities throughout the United States.

"I decided it was an excellent opportunity to take the next step," Davidson said. "In a world where there is so much bad news, I get to spend the day at a place where there is so much hope."

A year ago, 1,847 students enrolled at Augustana and the freshman class topped 400 for the sixth consecutive year. "It's a testimony to this college that we can continuously enroll large freshman classes without sacrificing quality."

Davidson says campus visits and meeting with faculty is critical to successful recruiting. "As students look at Augustana, it's very important to give them a good sample of the experience."

Earlier this year Davidson received the Augie Pride Award for exceptional service to the college.
