Augustana Students Selected for Inter-Collegiate Band

SIOUX FALLS - Thirteen members of the Augustana Band have been selected to participate in the 16th annual South Dakota Inter-Collegiate Band.

The best musicians have been selected from Augustana, South Dakota State University, University of South Dakota, Northern State University, Dakota State University, Black Hills State University, the University of Sioux Falls, Mount Marty College, Huron University, and South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.

The highly select group presents the opening concert for the 2004 South Dakota All-State Band Convention at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 26, at the Watertown Arena.

Representing Augustana are Heather Baxter (Walford, IA) clarinet; Michael Bergan, Madison, SD) percussion; Sarah Demke (Rock Valley, IA) clarinet; Laura Dutton (Sioux Falls) flute/piccolo; Ryan Gillaspie (Merrill, IA) string bass; Matt Grandbois (Hawley, MN) percussion; Jennie Johnson (Golden Valley, MN) trombone; Alexa Nagel (Madison, SD) horn; April Nelson (Backus, MN) flute; Claire Martin (Monument, CO) euphonium; Erin Speidel (Belle Fourche, SD) bassoon; Andrea Vercruysse (Blair, NE) horn; and Sarah Vick (Dawson, MN) baritone saxophone.
