Grant Supports Improving Teacher Quality Workshops

SIOUX FALLS - Dr. Daniel O. Farrington, Title II Higher Education Grants Administrator, announced that Dr. John Clementson, associate professor of Education at Augustana College, in collaboration with Jeff Lukens and Bob Tower of Sioux Falls Roosevelt High School, and Dr. Jason Douma of the University of Sioux Falls, has been awarded two grants under the Title II No Child Left Behind Improving Teacher Quality Program.

The two grants are designed to improve the mathematics and pedagogical skills of mathematics teachers in South Dakota by engaging them in a program called Activity-Based Mathematics Across the Curriculum. Together, the grants total nearly $100,000.

Two weeklong workshops have been scheduled this summer: June 7-11 at Stevens High School in Rapid City, and June 14-18 at Roosevelt High School in Sioux Falls.
