Students Selected to Perform in Annual Concerto-Aria Concert

SIOUX FALLS – Ten Augustana students have been selected to perform in the annual Concerto-Aria Concert on Sunday, April 24. The concert, which is free and open to the public, begins at 3:00 p.m. in Kresge Recital Hall.

The Augustana Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Scott Johnson, will accompany the student soloists selected by the music faculty during auditions in February. The students are:

Lindsay Ammann, junior music major from Sioux Falls, will sing “Va! laisse couler mes larmes” from Werther by Massenet.

Michael Amolins, sophomore chemistry major from Sioux Falls, will play the first movement of the Concerto for Alto Saxophone by Debois.

David Anderson, sophomore music education major from Dunlap, Iowa, will play the first and second movements of Concertino for Trombone by Larsson.

Christine Hallenbeck, junior music and journalism major from Sioux Falls, will sing “Elle a fui la touterelle” from Tales of Hoffmann by Offenbach.

Sarah Kohn, sophomore elementary education major from Inver Grove Heights, Minn., will play the violin solo Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso by Saint-Saens.

Bethany Leland, sophomore music education major from Bricelyn, Minn., will sing “Mi chiamano Mimi” from Madama Butterfly by Puccini.

Lisa Lorenz, senior music education major from Worthington, Minn., will play the second movement of the Piano Concerto by ravel.

Alexa Nagel, junior music and government major from Madison, S.D., will play the “Rondo” from the Concerto for Horn in D minor by Rosetti.

Alyssa Nance, freshman music major from Sioux Falls, will sing “Vedrai carino” from Don Giovanni by Mozart.

Andrew Reinartz, senior music, philosophy, and computer science major from Sioux Falls, will play Elegy by Bottesini.
