Carley Roach Selected to Play in Division II Golf Championships

SIOUX FALLS – Augustana freshman Carley Roach (Brookings, SD) has been selected to compete in the 2005 NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championships, the NCAA announced.

Roach is the first women’s golfer in the Augustana program’s four-year history to compete in the NCAA Championships. She advanced to the North Regional Championships May 2-3 in Winona, Minn. The 54-hole tournament will be played at Cedar Valley Golf Course.

Each regional tournament consists of six teams and the top three individuals not on qualifying teams. The top two teams, and the top two individuals not on qualifying teams, advance to the national meet May 11-14 in Albuquerque, N.M.

Roach has been Augustana’s top golfer all season, She tied for third place at the North Central Conference Championships and helped the Vikings to a fourth-place team finish. It was the best team finish and the best individual finish in school history.

This spring Roach won the South Dakota Invitational, shooting a 155 for 36 holes.
