Seven Augustana Student-Athletes Win Titles in Conference Track Meet

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Seven Augustana College student-athletes claimed titles at the North Central Conference indoor championships Friday and Saturday in Vermillion, S.D.

The women’s distance medley team posted a winning time of 12 minutes, 11.65 seconds for a conference and DakotaDome record. Carrying the baton for the Vikings were Rachel Stangler (Albany, MN), Janie Sershen (Chester, SD), Mary Stoll (Sioux Falls), and Sara Hayes (Waukee, IA).

Individually, Stangler won the mile (5:08.21) and the 3,000-meter run (10:29.61). Hayes won the 5,000-meter run in 18:13.77.

The women finished fifth in the team competition with 95 points.

On the men’s side, Luke Baltrusch (Colorado Springs, CO) won the mile (4:14.28) and the 3,000-meter run (8:33.28). Luke Guetter (Wabasso, MN) won the 400-meter run (49.44).

The men finished sixth with 55 points.
