Professor Soukup Receives ASA Faculty Recognition Award

SIOUX FALLS – Monica Soukup, assistant professor of Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, received the Augustana Student Association’s (ASA) Faculty Recognition Award.

The award is presented annually to an outstanding faculty member at Augustana, selected through student nomination, who maintains exceptional standards of excellence both in and out of the classroom, upholds the values and character of the college, and gives Augustana College a reputation as an institution of distinction.

Professor Soukup is a graduate of Sioux Falls O’Gorman High School. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in elementary and special education at Augustana. She taught elementary and junior high students at South Dakota School for the Deaf for 23 years.

ASA is the student government of Augustana College. ASA works in cooperation with the administration, faculty, staff, and Board of Trustees of the college to confront issues ranging from academic accreditation to buildings and grounds.

Augustana is a liberal arts college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
