Worthington Senior Wins Covenant Award for Christian Faith

Senior Kim Hibma, Worthington, Minn., was awarded the Augustana Covenant Award for Christian Faith.

A significant tradition at Augustana, a series of Covenant Awards is presented throughout each academic year; one award for each of the College’s five core values: Christian, Liberal Arts, Excellence, Community, and Service. A committee of faculty and staff review nominations from the entire campus community.

Hibma, an elementary and special education major, is described as a caring, responsible and hard-working individual who is both grounded and self-assured. Active in church life, Hibma works with area youth and has been a leader in Augustana’s Campus Outreach Ministries since her freshmen year. She seeks to be a Christian role model for others.

Committee members were asked to consider the following guidelines during the selection process for the Christian Faith Award:

  • Students who are in search of a calling that honors the Christian faith;
  • Students who actively integrate faith and actions;
  • Candidates who see their life journey as part of a bigger tapestry;
  • Students who are growing in faith with Christ; and
  • Students who are comfortable discussing their faith with others.
