Sophomore Advances to Semifinals on 'Jeopardy'

Augustana University students gathered in the Back Alley to cheer on AU sophomore Hannah Norem as she competed on "Jeopardy! College Championship."

On Thursday afternoon, AU students filled the Back Alley inside Morrison Commons to watch their classmate, Hannah Norem, compete on "Jeopardy! College Championship." 

Norem had $7,400 heading into the "Final Jeopardy" round where the category was "19th Century Books," and the answer was: "'Instinct,' 'Hybridism' and 'Geographical Distribution' are chapters in this book."

Norem's question, "What is 'The Origin of Species,'" was correct. She wagered $7,000, bringing her total to $14,400. She finished the round in third place.

What's Next?

Norem's score secured her a wild card position to advance to the semifinal round. The episode airing her semifinal competition will air at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 9. A watch party is planned in the Back Alley.
