Q. What is the Langskip 5K?
A. The Langskip 5K Race is a charity fun run benefiting Augiethon that takes place during Viking Days, Augustana University's homecoming celebration. Langskip (pronounced "LAHN-sheep") is Norwegian for "Viking ship."

Q. What is Augiethon?
A. Augiethon, formerly Augustana Dance Marathon, is a student-run philanthropy that raises money for Sanford Children's Hospital in Sioux Falls, a member of the Children's Miracle Network. Proceeds from the Langskip 5K benefit these organizations.

Q. When and where is the Langskip 5K?
A. The run will start at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14. It will start on Summit Avenue near Sioux Falls Seminary, and finish on the Augustana campus near Morrison Commons. See the race course map below.

Q. How can I register?
A. You can register for the race online. Register today.

Q. Can I register a group?
A. Yes. Up to 20 members of your group can register at the same time.

Q. What is included in the $25 Langskip 5K registration fee?
A. Participants will receive a race shirt, a race bib and a great sense of accomplishment!

Q. Do I get a free shirt?
A. Yes. All runners will receive a free race shirt if we receive your registration by Wednesday, Oct. 4. If you register after that date, we are unable to guarantee a shirt of any size. We urge you to register early to guarantee a shirt.

Q. Are walkers allowed in the Langskip 5K?
A. Yes, of course walkers are allowed. We are sure there will be plenty of walkers to enjoy this event.

Q. Are there age restrictions for the Langskip 5K?
A. There are no age restrictions for the Langskip 5K. We welcome runners and walkers of all ages.

Q. Will strollers be allowed at the Langskip 5K?
A. Yes, but we ask you to allow the runners to start first.

Q. Are pets allowed at the Langskip 5K?
A. Sorry, we love pets, but they are not allowed at the Langskip 5K.

Q. Can I pick up my race packet before race day?
A. No. Packets can only be picked up the morning of the race near the starting line outside Sioux Falls Seminary at 29th Street and Summit Avenue.

Q. Can someone pick up a packet for me?
A. Of course. Please come with the participant's first and last name. Make sure you have a list of all names on your team before picking up the packet.

Q. Where can I park?
A. Parking will be available in the Sioux Falls Seminary parking lot at 29th Street and Summit Avenue. Summit Avenue between 28th and 33rd streets will be closed. Access to the lot will be available from Norton Avenue only. Additional parking is available on residential streets. For details, see the campus map.

Q. Is the course a sanctioned 5K course?
A. We believe you will feel great about your time and enjoy your run!

Q. How will I track my time?
A. Bring a watch.

Q. Seriously, I want an official time.
A. The Langskip 5K is a fun run. We’re confident you’ll have fun.

Q. I registered for the run and can't participate. Can I transfer my registration to someone else?
A. Yes, you can transfer your entry to another person by contacting the race organizers. You are allowed to do this up until the last week prior to the race.

Q. I registered for the run and can't participate. Can I receive a refund?
A. Unfortunately, we can't issue a refund for the Langskip 5K. You can still come pick up your packet on the day of the run.

Q. What if it rains?
A. In the case of rain, the race will continue as scheduled. However, in the case of truly inclement weather (lightning, etc.) the race will be delayed. Registrants will be notified by email the morning of the race, should the forecast be of concern.

Q. Is the race open to spectators?
A. Yes! We encourage family and friends to come congratulate and hang out with the participants.
