About the Artist
This Homecoming, the Eide/Dalrymple Gallery welcomes alumna Anh Ta for her exhibition “Ever I Know,” a mixed-media installation of printmaking, video projection, and food. “Ever I Know” is a contemplation of the idea of homemaking. Specifically, it is Ta’s investigation of her mother’s domestic life in Hanoi, Vietnam. Ta juxtaposes printmaking inspired by family photographs and Vietnamese literature and poetry, with cinematic footage, and cooking her family’s favorite home-made food.
Ta graduated from Augustana in 2014. That year she was awarded The Harold Spitznagel Medal for Achievement in Art, and award given by the Augustana Art Department to student-artists who demonstrate the highest standards of excellence in their artistic endeavors throughout their careers at Augustana. The award is only bestowed occasionally to graduating senior art majors. In 2018, Ta earned an MFA in printmaking from Ohio University, where she also served as a teaching assistant, instructor of record, and as program assistant to the University’s summer studio course in Rome, Italy. Ta has also served as a teaching assistant at Frogman’s Print Workshop. Her work has already been exhibited widely, including: the Tokyo International Mini Print Triennial; the Leedy Voulkos Art Center, Kansas City; the International Print Show at El Minia University, Egypt; Highpoint Center for Printmaking, Minneapolis.
