President Oliver’s Inauguration Set for October 6, 2006
SIOUX FALLS – The inauguration of Rob Oliver as the 23rd president of Augustana College will be held in the Elmen Center on Friday, October 6, beginning at 3:00 p.m.
Oliver was elected by the Augustana Board of Trustees in January and officially assumed the office on August 1, 2006.
Jane Zaloudek, chair of the Augustana Board of Trustees, will preside over the inaugural ceremony and present Oliver for the formal induction by Bishop Andrea DeGroot-Nesdahl, South Dakota Synod, ELCA.
Investiture will be made by former presidents of Augustana College - Dr. Bruce R. Halverson (2000-2006), Dr. Ralph Wagoner (1993-2000), Dr. Lloyd Svendsbye (1987-1992), Dr. Bill Nelsen (1980-1986), and Dr. Charles Balcer (1965-1980).
A reception will be held in the Elmen Center following the ceremonies. It is open to all friends, alumni, and students of Augustana College.
Oliver is no stranger to Augustana, nor to the world of higher education. He is a past chair of the Augustana Board of Trustees, and served on the board for 12 years. For the last two years he has been an associate professor and chair of the Augustana business department. He served as an adjunct instructor at The University of South Dakota School of Business and Graduate School of Business, and was an instructor with the Sioux Falls chapters of the American Institute of Banking and the American Institute of Financial Education.
He and his wife, Angie, are the parents of two daughters, Andrea and Laura. The Olivers are members of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls.
