Faculty Development Grant
from the Bush Foundation
Nov 2002 - Nov 2005
Augustana College
Sioux Falls, SD
Faculty Development Grant Proposal
2. Teaching and learning (pedagogy)
2d. 2-3 projects per summer for research programs specifically supporting
undergraduate research with particular emphasis on student learning outcomes
from student research projects
| Program Strategy |
2d. Across the life of this project, the college will generate
2-3 projects per summer for research programs specifically supporting undergraduate
research with particular emphasis on student learning outcomes from student
research projects. We expect at least 2 faculty & 2 students per summer,
coordinating Bush support with ARAF or external support. |
| Evaluation Activities |
Faculty receiving these grants will generate, as part of the proposal,
a statement of potential impact on student learning for their projects.
Each summer project will then conduct a student learning analysis including
appropriate baseline and appropriate "after-treatment" measures
along with appropriate (and available) external measures for their project,
i.e., an evaluative look at the final product for each summer research
project. |
| Specific Intended Outcomes |
This goal will have been met when:
1. There is increased summer research opportunities for faculty and
students.
2. Participation in the Augustana Symposium and the presentation of
research at off-campus meetings is encouraged and results in more student
presentations.
3. Student learning is enhanced in terms of an appreciation of the importance
of scholarly work.
