Faculty Development Grant Proposal
| Program Strategy |
3a. By the end of the project, the college will develop at least five
internship centers at various places around the country. These centers
will be integrated into the College's funding capability by the end of
the third year. Recruit 3 alumni in each geographical area, orient team,
and place 2-5 students in each center per year. Consider Mpls/St. Paul,
Chicago, Denver, Washington D.C., New York, Seattle, San Francisco, L.A.
|
| Evaluation Activities |
Students enrolled in these internships will provide evaluative data
as follows: responses from a pretest (designed by home faculty), responses
from a posttest, and a portfolio summarizing and evaluating the experience
in terms of the defined intended learning outcomes for each student. We
will survey students with pre- and post- tests on career options and the
value of the liberal arts. We will track students' subsequent academic
choices and progress both at Augustana and in post-graduate endeavors.
In addition, the college will collect information from the site volunteer,
the student and the faculty member that will be used to judge the efficacy
of the off-site internship program. |
| Specific Intended Outcomes |
This goal will have been met when:
1. Five internship centers are created and operational.
2. Students are introduced, through these internship centers, to greater
diversity and complexity.
3. The internship sites are truly functional, i.e., they systematically
contribute to students' preparation for vocation, life and the future.
