Faculty Development Grant Proposal
4. Diversity, globalism, regional and international perspectives
4b. Focused Study Grants to members of the faculty who express an interest
and an ability to modify learning environments so as to significantly engage
the issues of globalism and international learning.
| Program Strategy |
4b. The project will fund four to six Focused Study Grants to
members of the faculty who express an interest and an ability to modify
learning environments so as to significantly engage the issues of globalism
and international learning. This work will be broader than 4a, but related
to it. Research and develop courses and dept-wide emphases in international
courses (Interim, semester abroad), interaction with Indian reservations
and tribal colleges, and minority communities in urban centers. |
| Evaluation Activities |
These focused study grants will be evaluated using the same baseline,
as discussed above, but are expected to be more inclusive, more meaningful
and more significant than singular classroom-based efforts. More powerful
evaluation experiences are expected, including structured portfolios, CD-ROM
development, surveys, and specific tests of learning and accomplishment
using independent measures. |
| Specific Intended Outcomes |
This goal will have been met when:
1. The exposure of students to issues of internationalization and global
immersion have systematically increased within the curriculum.
2. The curriculum at Augustana is measurably different with regard to
exposure to cultural diversity within its standard curriculum.
3. The broader, college-wide perspectives on internationalization and
globalism are measurably different.
