Guidlines for Assessment Development Grants
Funded by the Bush Foundation
(adapted from Concordia College)
In conjunction with the Faculty Development Committee, the Augustana Assessment Committee will award mini-grants to departments for purposes of major program assessment improvements.  

Grant proposals should include the following:  
1. The objectives of the grant.
2. How the grant activity will improve the assessement practices of the department.
3. A budget
4. A timeline for accomplishing the purposes of the grant.
5. How the proposal relates to one of the four overall goals of the Bush Faculty Development Grant.
Requirements:

1. The development grant activity must be a departmental effort to move the assessment of student outcomes processes to a higher level of implementation.  ( Higher Learning Commission Levels of Implementation)

2. Departments that receive grants must complete a final report of the accomplished outcomes, and of the expended resources.

3.  Awards of up to $2000 will be awarded to 3 departments in the spring of 2004.   Funds should be expended by Oct. 15, 2004.  Final report due to the Assessment Committee Oct. 15, 2004..

4. Departments receiving grants will share their progress with the community and serve as mentors to other departments.

Budget:  Funds may be used to advance the assessment efforts of the department.  (Developing department assessment plans, refining student outcomes, purchasing assessment tools, faculty stipends, external consultant, student help, photocopying, data processing, etc...)  Faculty stipends may not exceed $50 per day.
