MUSIC AT OUR
SAVIOR’S - HOW YOU CAN BECOME INVOLVED
Have you ever sung in a choir during high school or college? Have
you ever wanted to sing with a group, but just never did? Are you
curious about the bell choirs? Did you or do you currently play a
band or orchestra instrument and would like to use your talents and
gifts at Our Savior’s? If the answer to any of these questions is
yes, opportunities abound for people of all ages to be active in the
music program of Our Savior’s. There is a place for everyone to
share his or her gifts and talents. Choirs begin with
four-year-olds and continue through all ages.

CHILDREN’S CHOIRS
Children’s choirs help children explore
their faith through the music they sing, learn about worship, develop
musical skills, and be part of a caring, loving community within their
church. In addition to singing for worship, choirs attend choral
festivals, have talent shows, stage musicals, and do outreach in and
around Sioux Falls. This year the children’s choirs will present
the musical "The Troubbable of Zerubbabel" on the Sunday after Easter.
- Young Saints Choir
– This choir is for children in kindergarten
and first grade. It meets weekly on Wednesdays from
5:15-6:00
p.m. in the Learning Center. Children sing for worship
approximately every five to six
weeks. The first rehearsal is Sept. 12. The director is Andrea

- Laudate Choir
– Laudate Choir is for children in second
through fifth
grades. Weekly rehearsals are Wednesdays from 5:15-6:00
p.m. in the choir room. This choir sings for worship about once a
month. The
first rehearsal is Sept. 12.

- Joyful Noise Choir
– This choir is for children in sixth
through ninth
grade. Practice is on Wednesdays each week from 5:15-6:00
p.m. in the Chapel. This choir sings for worship once a month.
The

ADULT CHOIRS
All adult choirs are open to singers of high school
age and above. Choirs sing music of all musical styles from all
over the world. Adult choirs sing for worship, present an
Advent/Christmas service in December, give a spring concert, and also
provide outreach to the community and the surrounding area.
The adult choirs are touring England, Scotland, and Wales May 26-June
6, 2006.
- Senior Choir
– The Senior Choir sings weekly for worship, primarily for 11:00 a.m.
Festive. Practice is on Wednesdays from 7:00-8:30 p.m. The
choir has participated in choral festivals in the Sioux Falls area and
surrounding states and has also toured Germany, England, and
Scandinavia.
The first rehearsal is Sept. 5.

- Response Singers
– The Response Singers sing for worship approximately once a month and
also is an outreach choir that leads church services in surrounding
community churches. They practice on Sunday mornings from
9:30-10:25 a.m. The first rehearsal is Sept. 16. The director is Jeanne

- Women’s Choir
-The Women’s Choir is for women who like to sing music
written or arranged for women’s voices. This choir rehearses on
Tuesday mornings from 10:30-11:30 a.m. The Women’s Choir sings
about once a month for worship and for groups in the church and the
community. The first rehearsal is Sept. 11. The director is Marilyn

- Men’s Choir –
This group sings for worship two or three times throughout the
year. Singers are drawn from the men already in choirs and any
other interested men in the church. Practices are held as

BELL CHOIRS
The Bell choirs at OSL provide an opportunity for
participation in an instrumental ensemble. The bells and
handchimes are used as accompaniment for singers and instrumentalists,
accompany hymns, and play pieces on their own. It is helpful that
ringers know how to read notes and rhythms, but if someone would like
to ring and does not have a musical background, directors will
teach what one needs to know.
- Joy Ringers –
Joy Ringers is for students in fifth
through ninth grades. Rehearsal is on Wednesdays from
4:30-5:15
p.m. This choir rings for worship about once a month. The
Joy Ringers also occasionally accompany choral groups in the church,
attend bell festivals, and give concerts outside of the church.

- Bells
of Our Savior’s
– This is the bell choir for high
school through adult ringers. Rehearsal is on Tuesday
evenings from 6:00-7:00
p.m. The Bells of Our Savior’s rings for worship once a
month. They are also asked to play for groups within and outside
of the church. This choir will attend a bell festival in Sioux Falls in October. Three
positions are open this fall. The first rehearsal will be
Sept. 11. The

CANTORS
Cantors sing for worship when choirs are not
scheduled. Cantors may sing parts of the liturgy, lead psalms,
and

INSTRUMENTALISTS
Instrumentalists are often used as soloists,
accompanists, and in ensembles.

CELEBRATE BAND
Singers and/or instrumentalists who are interested
in singing and playing with the band should contact

LITURGICAL DANCE,
PUPPETS,
DRAMA
Dancers, actors, and puppeteers are needed at
various times throughout the year. Practice for each event is
called as needed.
