Pastor Rudi Blümcke served 1995-2003 as Pastor of the Krasnojarsk Lutheran Church in Krasnojarsk, Russia in the region of Siberia. During 1993-94 Rudi served as Intern Pastor at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls, SD. During that year, Rudi and his wife Kirsten also took the Stephen Series course at Our Savior's, and both were commissioned as Stephen Ministers. Rudi also took the Stephen Ministry Leadership Training Course in Seattle during Summer 1994.

Rudi grew up in Germany, and studied at Hermannsburg Mission Seminary there. Prior to his year at Our Savior's, his first Internship was in Brazil, Getulio Vargas. Following completion of his studies at Hermannsburg, since 1995 Pastor Rudi Blümcke has served as Pastor in Krasnojarsk. He was sent to Russia by the Hermannsburg Mission together with EKD (the Evangelical Church of Germany). Krasnojarsk is a city, and there is also the Kray Krasnojarsk. Kray is the region of Krasnojarsk, comparable to a state in the USA. The Kray Krasnojarsk is as large as Europe.

In Russia, Rudi's overall church organization is ELKRAS (Evangelical Lutheran Church in Russia and Other States -- which refers to the former Soviet Union with the exception of the Baltic states). ELKRAS divided Russia into two Eparchies, European Russia and Siberia, with their own synods. Each Eparchie is divided into several Propsteien (church districts). Rudi was elected Propst (District Pastor) for the Propstei Krasnojarsk, with 31 congregations so far. So ELKRAS has preachers and pastors in the congregations, a Propst for each Propstei, Superintendents for the Eparchie, and one Bishop for the whole ELKRAS. The Bishop is Dr. Georg Kretschmar, former Professor of Church History and New Testament at Munich. The Bishop is located in St. Petersburg. The journal der Bote, news magazine of ELKRAS, is also published there, with Fax number (007) 812 2183635.

Pastor Rudi is distributing calendars, with the church calendar added. The Russian church calendar is so different that Pastor Rudi's congregation members are a little confused about when to celebrate which Sunday.

Moving soon to St. Petersburg, Russia (Dec 2003/Jan 2004)

Pastor Rudi Blümcke visited Our Savior's August 3, 1997. He preached at church services that weekend, and spoke at a church potluck dinner held in his honor. Encouragement of Pastor Rudi's work is welcome, through prayers, e-mail messages, and financial support. As part of its 50th Anniversary jubilee year, Our Savior's presented some financial support to Pastor Rudi during his August 1997 return visit. As a practical matter, financial support reaches Pastor Rudi most smoothly and reliably by means of an electronic fund transfer though a bank. If interested in such details, please contact Pastor Rudi at the E-mail address indicated above, or contact or Pastor Don Lehmann at Our Savior's.

Pastor Rudi Blümcke is visiting Our Savior's Feb 26-27, 2004. Pastor Rudi Blümcke was just installed (2004) as Rector (president) of the Theological Seminary of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Russia, Kasachstan, the Ukraine and middle Asia. The seminary is located in St Petersburg, Russia.
