SENIOR HIGH YOUTH FUNDRAISER:

The youth who will be attending the ELCA National Youth Gathering in New Orleans are doing their final fundraiser. The youth will selling "Saints Shares" for $15.00 for throughout the month of May. Each youth is asked to sell at least 10 shares. With this they will have raised all the money they will need to go on their trip.

The youth will be selling "Saints Shares" before and after Worship. We would like to encourage members of SJ and FL to take an active role in participating in helping send our youth to the National Youth Gathering. If you have not had a chance to help them out, now is the time!

We do want to thank all the members of Colton Lutheran Parish for their generous support that they have already given to the youth this past year.

So be "on the lookout" for youth selling shares and plan to help them attend the Youth Gathering by purchasing one or more "shares" in their trip!

Attention: Parents of college graduates: We are asking that any member of Colton Lutheran Parish that has a family member graduating from college or tech school please call the church office with their name, degree, college attended and day of graduation. We would like to recognize these graduates and want to be sure that we don't leave anyone out. So please take a minute to call the office, or email Roxie. Thank you!

We have about 10 young people signed up for Bible Camp this summer.  Most of these youth will be attending Shetek Bible Camp by Slayton, MN.  If there is anyone you know who would like to attend Bible Camp, please contact the church office. There is some money available to help pay for camp.

Hooray! Summer will soon be here! Whether you're busy working at home or traveling and and enjoying some well deserved R&R, the family of Colton Lutheran Parish is encouraged to continue to regularly attend Worship services. As we receive the gifts of God's word and sacrament in Worship, we're receiving spiritual R&R . . . remission of our sins and renewal of our strength as people of God. R&R . . .  it's a great thing!

Our summer Worship schedule:

June through July:

FL: 9am Worship - NO Sunday School

SJ: 10:30am Worship - NO Sunday School

*Please note. On July 22, there will be NO church services at either FL or SJ. A Community Worship Service will be held in Colton Park, to celebrate Jubilee Days.

**On July 29, the June through July schedule continues, with Worship at 9am for FL and 10:30am for SJ. This will also be Intern Anthony's last Sunday at our parish.

August through May:

FL: 10:30am Worship

SJ: 9:00am Worship

Sunday School at both churches will resume in September;

September newsletter calendar will have dates/times.

SEE YOU AT CHURCH!!

Thank you! A special "thank you" to everyone for their generous donations to The Banquet in the offering held in both churches on May 6! We received $574.00, which will greatly help with the cost of the meal and milk expense to feed our guests on June 20! As usual, the Colton Lutheran Parish responded to the call to help those who are in need and we thank you again for your continued generosity. God bless all of you!

SAVE this DATE: June 20 Colton Lutheran Parish is serving The Banquet this day. Please consider this important opportunity to be involved in this outreach ministry for our congregation.

There is a sign up sheet on the table in FL's narthex for volunteers to help prepare and serve the meal at The Banquet on June 20. We are looking for 6-8 people to help in preparing the meal in the afternoon and 40 people to serve the meal. We ask that you continue to be generous with your time and thank God for your blessings by helping others.

Stumped (again!) on what to give that special dad for Father's Day? Well, SJ has an answer for you with their Father's Day Fundraiser! Here are the details: on Sunday, June 17, there will be a food item Silent Auction at SJ's before & after services.

There will be various food items up for bid; baked goods, entrees, desserts, etc. You will place a dollar amount bid by the item you want to buy and after services, everyone has one more chance to bid and the highest bid on each item is announced and the item is yours!

**hint to the ladies/moms who are cooking for the dads on Father's Day. Why not buy your whole meal here - and get a day off from cooking and still have a homemade meal?!!

NOTE: All proceeds from this Father's Day Fundraiser go to SJ's General Fund, so please help both the church and yourself by participating in this event!

The Augustana College's Annual Concerto-Aria concert, sponsored by the Dept. of Performing and Visual Arts, will be held on May 8 at 7:30pm in the Washington Pavilion. Tickets can be purchased from the Washington Pavilion Box Office and cost $8 and $12.

Kristen Meidinger-soprano, Gabe Carlisle-violin, Andrew Paulson-percussion, and Aly Wingert-trombone.

FL is searching for men who are willing to be trained on ringing the bell before the Sunday morning church services! Currently Jim Willard is one of the few who rings the bell on Sunday, and we would like to be able to refer to a list of substitutes when he is not available. The training will only take about 10 minutes, after church. In order to prevent the rope from coming off the wheel in the bell tower, it is important to have the training to learn how hard to pull the rope and to get the feel for distance when pulling the rope.

NATIONAL YOUTH GATHERING: Final Fundraiser!!! The girls will be selling shares, and as a thank you for your gift, they invite you to follow them as they blog about their trip in July! You will also receive a postcard from New Orleans. The price per share is $15. Find one of the 12 girls going to New Orleans today! This fundraiser ends on June 3.

Nearly 300 people attended Bethel's 16th Annual Benefactor Dinner and Auction this year (a record!), and almost $6,000 was raised during     the live auction portion of the event. Two beautiful quilts that were donated by First Lutheran helped to make the evening successful. Thank you very much. One was sold for $175 and one was sold for $150. Bethel is celebrating 50 years of caring service this year. Thank you for helping to ensure that Bethel's ministry will thrive in the next 50 years.

Thanks again for your support.

 Sincerely, Gary G. Johnson
