The 2008 South Dakota Synod Assembly, God's Work. Our Hands, will be held May 30 and 31 at the Augustana College Elmen Center, Sioux Falls. A Listening Post on the first draft of the ELCA Social Statement on Human Sexuality is only one feature of the assembly. | Assembly Media Release for Congregations’ Use | ||

In an effort to be better stewards of resources (in this case, paper), we have put copies of the assembly media releases for congregations’ use online instead of in the Preliminary Report packet. The release is available in two formats:
PDF (Portable Document Format), which can be opened with Adobe Reader on any computer (click here to download PDF). If you need the free Adobe Reader, click here. Both formats are customizable, so that you may insert your congregation’s name, pastor(s), voting members, etc. before sending it to your local newspaper. You may print the release and submit it on paper, or send it as an e-mail attachment, as your local newspaper prefers. Please note: This media release is for you to send to your local newspaper, if you choose. The synod office will send releases to the state’s daily newspapers as well as television and radio news departments prior to synod assembly. South Dakota Synod Youth Assembly
Held in conjunction with this year's assembly is the South Dakota Synod Youth Assembly, May 30-31, Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls. This event is designed for senior high youth as well as youth voting members to synod assembly--the two assemblies run parallel with each other. The Ten Commandments: Not Just for Children Anymore!

Rolf A. Jacobson is the Associate Professor of Old Testament at Luther Seminary, St. Paul, Minnesota, and the Associate Editor of the journal Word & World. He is the author of Many Are Saying: The Function of Direct Discourse on the Hebrew Psalter and the co-author of Psalms, which is soon to be published with the New International Commentary. He has also contributed articles to The Lutheran Handbook, No Experience Necessary: Bible Study The Journal of Lutheran Ethics, Lectionary Homiletics, Theology Today, and other periodicals.
Since this will be the first Synod Pastor’s Conference following the election of Bishop David Zellmer, we will have a special “Bishop’s Hour” at 8:00pm on Tuesday, March 25.
