A native of Bismarck, North Dakota, Susan is a graduate of the University of South Dakota, with a B.A. in Business and an M.A. in Counseling. She has worked as a mental-health counselor for Lutheran Social Services and in private practice, and has served as Director of Youth Ministries at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls, for the past 12 years.

She and her husband, Brady, are the parents of two adult children and two grandchildren. Marone likes to golf, read, travel, fish, and spend time outdoors, but mostly enjoys being "Nana" to her grandchildren.

Of her new call, Susan says, "I see sharing our faith with all generations and creating opportunities for our youth to experience God's love as a high priority for my ministry on the synod level."
