Synod Handbook 2007-2008

A Note about the South Dakota Synod Handbook

For the fourth year, the entire South Dakota Synod Handbook is now available online. (In the past, only certain portions were posted.) Our hope is that this will increase its usefulness as a resource within the synod and beyond.

For convenience, the handbook has been divided into several PDF (Portable Document Format) files. These files may be viewed online or downloaded to your computer with Adobe Reader (formerly Adobe Acrobat Reader), and they are completely searchable using Adobe Reader’s “find” command. If you need to install or update your copy of the free Adobe Reader, you may do so via Adobe's web site.


As last year, e-mail addresses are linked, meaning that if your computer settings are compatible, clicking on an e-mail address will create an e-mail form addressed to that person. Additionally, web addresses are "clickable" as well.

The sections of the handbook are:

  • 01hand07 - Table of contents; listings of synod staff, synod council, committees, boards, task forces, etc.
  • 02hand07 - Index of congregations, alphabetically by conference; alphabetical listing of congregations.
  • 03hand07 - Specialized ministry.
  • 04hand07 - Clergy Roster: Alphabetical listing of all clergy, active and retired, in the South Dakota Synod.
  • 05hand07 - Assembly Materials: Bishop's reports and other materials from the 2007 South Dakota Synod Assembly. 2007 Synod Assembly minutes have been mailed separately to synod congregations and are not included in the handbook, however there is a link from this file to the Assembly Minutes that are posted online here.
