South Dakota Synod Faith Family Style began in January 2002. The original goal was to take the vision of family ministry to every congregation in the South Dakota Synod. Today more than 50% of congregations have been a part of the Faith Family Style events, including preaching at worship services and doing intergenerational activities with the congregation. The goal is not only to teach families that faith forms at home, but also to equip congregations and families to make this happen.

As the years have passed, Faith Family Style has put an emphasis on helping congregations train youth leaders by offering educational opportunities, networking with other youth leaders, and being a resource to the youth leaders themselves. Peer Ministry, Certification School through Augustana College, and youth workers retreats are just a few of the opportunities that South Dakota Faith Family Style has to offer.
