What is The Unlimited?

“The Unlimited” is our most flexible meal plan offering to date. Enjoy unlimited all-you-care-to-eat dining in the Ordal Dining Room from 7:15 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on weekdays, plus brunch and dinner on the weekends. “The Unlimited” offers additional features including two (2) Transfer Meals per week and five (5) guest meal passes per semester for use with friends and family.

Remember, your parents get to eat free with you in the dining room except for a few special weekends each year like Viking Days, Vespers Weekend and Commencement Weekend.

"The Unlimited” is the financial aid qualified meal plan offered for the 2014-2015 Academic Year.

What is The Block?

“The Block” is a reduced meal plan for third- and fourth-year students, and commuters. This plan has a base number of meals (75).  This plan offers flexibility to purchase additional small blocks of 25 meals for just $135.

Use “The Block” in the Ordal Dining Room, for Transfer Meals in the Huddle, or use your meals for guests - anyone you want to bring to the dining room can use your meals as long you are with them.  Remember, you are the only one who can use your ID Card.

”The Block” is not a financial aid qualified plan and in selecting this meal plan, an adjustment (reduction) of 10% will be made to that portion of your financial aid award defined as Augustana Gift Assistance. Check with the Financial Aid Office for assistance in determining your best financial options based upon your unique aid award.

When is my meal plan active?

Meal plans coincide with the College’s two academic semesters - fall and spring.  For students on-campus during Interim, your spring meal plan will simply be activated early, giving you access to your spring plan at the beginning of Interim.

Fall semester plans: Meal plans begin with the Sunday evening meal of the opening weekend. Meal plans end the morning after the last day of final exams.

Spring semester plans: Meal plans begin with the evening meal before the first day of spring semester classes. Spring plans end the morning after final exams (or the Saturday morning of commencement weekend for graduating seniors and other commencement participants).

Interim (January Term) arrangements: Students who are either transferring to the College, returning from a study abroad or other off-campus experience, or returning from a leave of absence at the beginning of Interim, will begin their spring meal plan with the evening meal the day before classes begin.

Note: Continuing students who were enrolled in classes during the fall semester but did not have a meal plan may begin their spring meal plan the day before classes begin with the evening meal..

What are Transfer Meals?

Transfer meals are combo meals available at The Huddle.  Swipe your ID card for access to a snacks and quick meals.

During weekdays (8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.) use Transfer Meals for Market-To-Go meals; cold sandwich combo, salad combo, or packaged microwave combo and beverage.

In the evening (7:00 p.m. thru 10:00 p.m.) the full combo meal menu is available with traditional hot items like burgers, chicken nuggets, fries, etc.

“The Unlimited” plan includes two (2) Transfer Meals per week.  Purchase 2 or 4 additional Transfer Meals a week if you need added flexibility with your off-campus schedule.

“The Block” plan offers 75 meals that can be used as Transfer Meals in The Huddle.

What are Viking Buck$?

Viking Buck$ is declining balance account built into your Augustana ID Card.  Viking Buck$ are accepted at various on campus locations.

Take advantage of a 10% discount at all on -campus food service locations, including the The Huddle, and athletic concessions. Use your Viking Buck$ at the bookstore too.

 

What happens to my Viking Buck$ at the end of the semester?

Your Viking Buck$ account balance will always carry from semester to semester and even year to year.

 

 

What are Bundles?

Bundles are an optional feature of “The Unlimited” meal plan - an easy way to add Transfer Meals and Viking Buck$ to create the perfect balance for your needs. Purchase a Bundle or build your own unique plan with additional Transfer Meals and Viking Buck$.

Can I bring a classmate, one of my faculty or family member to eat with me in the Ordal Dining Room?

If you have “The Unlimited,” you receive 5 guest passes for the semester. Just inform the cashier at the front door of the dining room know that you would like to use your guest pass(es).  

“The Block” plan participants can use any number of their meals for guests.  Don’t forget that you need to accompany your guests.

Can my parents really eat free in the dining room?

Yes. Moms and dads are entitled to complimentary meals in the Ordal Dining Room as long as you are with them. We regret that these free meals cannot be offered during these special weekends, Friday evening through Sunday evening:

• Opening weekend of the fall semester

• Viking Days (homecoming weekend)

· Vespers Weekend (early December)

· Parent Weekends (late Sept., early March)

· Commencement Weekend (late May)

You may wish to use your guest meal passes with siblings and other relatives if you have “The Unlimited” plan. “The Block” plan permits you to use meals from your balance.

When is my meal plan active?

Fall semester: Meal plans begin with the evening meal on Opening weekend. Meal plans end following the mid-day meal on the date all residential facilities close.

Spring Semester: For those on-campus for Interim, meal plans begin on the evening meal before the first day of interim classes. For students arriving at the start of spring semester, your plan begins the evening before classes begin. Meal plans end following the mid-day meal on Sunday of commencement weekend.

Can I loan my card to a friend to use?

Sorry, your ID Card cannot be used by others. Access to the dining room and purchases in the Huddle are restricted to the cardholder.   

If I'm on The Block plan, what happens to my unused meals at the end of a semester?

Meals do not carry over from semester to semester - unused meals are forfeited.

I have a special need for dietary accommodations. How do I go about making these arrangements?

Dining Services staff will provide reasonable accommodations for medical reasons with dietary/nutritional documentation.  We strive to meet requests for accommodation for religious and/or cultural needs as well. Requests for health-related meal plan accommodations should be in contact with Student Academic Support Services (coordinates services for students with documented disabilities).  All other requests should be made with the Director or Residence Life.
