Here is a little bit of background on Jim (i.e. professional, educational, and personal).

As the Vice President for Student Services and Dean of Students, Jim has broad responsibility for the administration of many departments that provide services and support to Augustana College students (i.e. Dean of Students Office, Residence Life (Housing), Student Activities, Career Center, International Student Programs, Recreational Services, Health and Counseling Services, Volunteer Services, Adult Learner Services, Campus Learning Center for Children (daycare), Campus Safety, Dining Services, and Bookstore). He is responsible for the hiring of staff in the departments identified above, planning, budgeting, representing the division of Student Services, and most importantly, representing the concerns of the student body.

Jim has been associated with Augustana College as the Dean of Students since 1986. He has been a college administrator in the student affairs field for over thirty years while serving the following schools in addition to Augustana: Luther College, Pacific Lutheran University, St. Olaf College and Rocky Mountain College.

Jim is married with two sons. His wife, Susan, is the Director of Student Academic Support Services at Augustana. His oldest son Ryan and his wife Teri live in Minneapolis, MN. Ryan is an attorney and Teri is a pediatric nurse. His youngest son Erik is a graduate student at Western Washington University.
