Intramurals
Augustana's intramural recreational sports
program enriches student life by offering a broad range of activities
designed to meet the varied needs of the campus community. The wholesome
competition provided by intramurals allows students to develop sport
skills and improve physical fitness.
So why should you get involved?
Over 60% of the student body participates in intramural
sports. More than 50 activities are offered each year for people
of all skill levels. Intramurals provide a great opportunity to
exercise, compete, and meet people. During the 2006-2007 year 1017
students, staff, and faculty participated in intramural activities.
Who can play?
In order to participate in intramurals,
an individual must be an Augustana student, faculty member, staff
member, or spouse. (This includes full-time and part-time staff
and students.) We offer different intramural leagues for the highly-skilled,
competitive individuals and for those who are simply looking for
some exercise and want to play intramurals "just for fun."
By offering competitive and recreational leagues for each intramural
sport, we provide opportunities for everyone. Are you a beginning
racquetball or basketball player, or a volleyball player who in
interested in playing intramurals but is limited in the number of
times you can play each week? If so, sign up for our recreational
league. It might be exactly what you are looking for.
