The Academic Success Achievement Program

The Academic Success Achievement Program (A.S.A.P.) in Bergsaker and Solberg Hall creates opportunities for first year students that supports their academic success and assist in their understanding of themselves as learners.

A.S.A.P offers numerous events during the year. From posting study skills information in the lobby to stress management events during finals week, A.S.A.P is here to help you succeed! Listed below is a description of some key A.S.A.P service.

Workshops are offered on Thursday at 9:00pm during the fall semester in either the Solberg basement or Bergsaker recreational room. Topics: Time Management, Editing Papers, Test-Taking, and Career Exploration. Look for schedule and publicity posted in Bergsaker and Solberg Halls.

Tutoring is available four nights a week in Bergsaker and Solberg Hall for writing, biology, chemistry, Spanish, and mathematics. Comfortable spaces for tutoring have been designated in the basement of Solberg and the main floor of Bergsaker. Tutors serve as role models for success and are eager to assist you with your course work.

Study Cafes are held prior to exams in popular first year general education courses. These study groups help students identify the main points of a unit, review the information, and clarify any areas of confusion. Study cafes also a quiet, relaxing environment for study or reading in the residence halls.

"The 30-Day Challenge" is a program to encourage first-year students to stay on campus during the first thirty days of the fall semester and to participate in a wide range of campus activities, particularly on weekends. The program's goal are to create connections with frosh and the campus community, to assist students to for from friendships with classmates, and to become active members of the Augustana community. On Friday and Saturdays, students will stop by their residence hall reception desk to verify they are on campus. Students who spend their first twenty one days of the fall semester on campus receive a free t-shirt. Students completing the entire "30 Day Challenge" are entered into a drawing for a $100 gift certificate to either Best Buy or the Empire mall.

Academic Celebrations of Excellence (A.C.E.). The Dean of Students Office awards a pizza party to the residence hall floor/wing that earns the most "A.C.E." points. Students will earn points by attending A.S.A.P. events during the semester and for earning the highest cumulative grade point average. Speak with your Peer Advisor for more information.
