Kevin Gleason - Bergsaker Hall Director / Career Counselor

Since my undergraduate years I have worked in the education field as a teacher and coach. I've also held positions in the aquatic safety and service industries. Now that I have completed graduate school, I intend to apply my counseling degree towards student development. To me, being involved in the decision making process at the collegiate level is a great opportunity.

I am most looking forward to the chance to reacquaint myself with the college environment. The students at Bergsaker Hall will be the center of that focus. Working with the Peer Advisors to meet the students needs will be a rewarding pursuit. I also look forward to the other aspects of Augustana. From the sporting events to the Boe Forum, I anticipate an active schedule.

Favorite Augie Experience:
Building an impenetrable wooden fortress in the Solberg basement over finals week.

Summer Plans:
Working at Wells Fargo full time.  Going to some concerts.  Avoiding the gym.  Boating on the weekends.

One thing you're looking forward to being on Res Life Staff:
Forming a sports dynasty on second floor Bergsalker and beating everyone in Dog Eat Dog.

Favorite Augie Experience:
The first week of my freshman year and getting to know a lot of new people and having fun with everyone. We didn't have any stress from classes yet, and there were so many activities going on on  campus. It was fun to just sit and laugh with people every night :)

Summer Plans:
I will be taking summer school for June and July at Augie and working on campus part time.  I will also be shadowing some chiropractors in Sioux Falls to get some experience that way. Then for August I will move back home to Bismarck to spend some time with my friends and family.

One thing you're looking forward to being on Res Life Staff:
Meeting all of the new freshman again this year! I loved getting to know everyone and hearing all of their different stories! It was so much fun seeing everyone bond and I'm really excited to see who we have in Bergsaker again this year:)

Favorite Augie Experience:
 Some of my favorite memories have come from being a PA in Bergsaker Hall last year. There is never a dull night in the freshmen dorms. I have made such great relationships here at Augie with both students and faculty. I have also loved being a part of the Augustana Choir for the past two years.

Summer Plans:
This summer I am taking a summer course in Statistics and studying for the Dental Admissions Test. Throughout the summer I will be in the process of applying to dental school. Other than that I am working a couple days a week back at home in Mitchell. With my free time, I will be playing at the lake and relaxing in the sun with friends and family. I also have a couple trips planned to visit my fiancé out in Colorado! J It should be both a relaxing and productive summer.

One thing you're looking forward to being on Res Life Staff:
I look forward to welcoming another great freshman class to Augustana. I can’t wait to meet them all and hopefully make the transition to college life a fun and easy one for them. I am also excited to bond with and support another staff. I have made some of the best friendships through Res Life!

Grilling Lamb on a Rusty Old Grill with lots of garlic, onions  sea salt, potatoes and pineapple and ninjaing things and  water gun fights in places that should not get wet and climbing things  and....

Summer Plans:
Do some wheat research, study for mcat, run some miles.

Living in Rapid City; nannying for a family during the mornings, and working at the office in a medical clinic during the afternoons.
