Mission: To embrace our values and the important role that the arts play in our lives, we see great importance in allowing the youth in our community to experience the powerful role art can play in their lives. Mission: To help students “reconnect.” We are making a pledge to have a house representative active in all Augustana government as well as various clubs and organizations. We would like to join in the efforts with NSO for our first project. We plan on opening our theme house to any questions the incoming freshmen may have. We all remember the need for answers freshmen year and the desire to hear many different options. If there is one thing our house has, its options. Valhalla House

Embracing Diversity!

Mission: As part of our theme, we want our community service projects to be as diverse as our house will be. Our view of diversity displays our belief that diversity is not exclusive to ethnicity, but also includes: age, religious views, personal background, economic status, and political opinions. We are inspired by the differences among us and want to utilize these in order to live together in a unified house. Nordland House

Prayer of St. Francis

Mission: We have chosen to base our theme on the Prayer of St. Francis Assisi. This prayer, a testament to the Christian heritage of both Augustana and of the individual house members, requests that the individual petitioner become an instrument of peace and requires each of us to think about our relationship with communities of all sizes. The Prayer of St. Francis has nine petitions which will guide our service for activities for each of the nine months we are living on campus. The activities we have planned will allow us to involve the larger Augustana community as we extend invitations to help in service activities to specific campus groups as well as the Augustana campus at large. Mission: Our theme is centered upon strengthening future generations of leaders while promoting the Christian values we possess. Children will be the focus of our group’s projects. Our thoughts and actions will be based on the concept of K.I.D.S.: Kind Individuals Demonstrating Service. Mission: We will supply people with the basic needs of life which we believe to be: food, shelter, clothing, and water. We will accomplish this by targeting those in need at the local, national, and international levels. We will gain awareness of the needs in our world, by reaching out to enhance other’s living conditions. In this way we will gain more respect for others and their ways of life in our world.
