Goal: Unify campus, local and global communities through service projects.

Projects: Sponsor a service learning project over spring break. Possible collaboration could be with Pine Ridge Reservation or a Habitat for Humanity project; work with FriendsLink (possibly on the advisory council) to provide young adults with disabilities to attend Augustana activities to include sporting events, musical and theatrical productions, campus movies, etc. Off campus destinations can be identified as well.

Campus House

Providing for the N.E.E.D. (Necessities Everyone Everywhere Deserved)

Goal: Everyone deserves basic necessities in life and we will provide for local persons in need.

Projects: Fundraising with local Sioux Falls youth to provide money for an international program called, Walk for Water; take a field trip to the Twin Cities to volunteer time with Feed My Starving Children; collect hygiene products for people in need in the Sioux Falls community; in addition, volunteer twice a semester at the Banquet. Goal: Serve Augustana through programming to promote a welcoming, safe and comfortable campus environment for freshmen.

Projects: Open house to welcome the Augie community; finals week study breaks focused on freshmen; Ballroom Benefit all proceeds will be donated to buy Christmas presents for children who attend daycare at Volunteers of America; Interim focus on volunteering at Childrens Care Hospital; work with young moms at New Start to address self esteem and self confidence issues; visit Dow Rummel Nursing Home and provide an activity night; create a service team of Augie students to do highway clean up. Belief, Relief, Outreach, and Servicer

Goal: Create a Christian centered community where members strive to put God first.

Projects: To create a Christian centered community where members strive to put God first. They will have confidence in each other that will be accompanied by trust and honesty. Projects: To raise $500 for Heifer International This will lead to the purchase of one heifer, four goats and a combination of sixty geese and two hundred twenty five chickens; additional possible projects include reading to children at Laura Wilder, volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, highway clean up and/or serve at the Banquet.

Hillsboro House

Promoting Healthy Living: Body, Mind, and Spirit

Goal: Promote healthy living to Augustana and Sioux Falls community - emphasis on one's personal well-being as well as the health of the world.

Projects: Create an Augustana College Cookbook; promote health on campus through informational pieces, work with Dining Services to expand use of "Flex Dollars" with possible partnerships with healthy eating establishments. Volunteer opportunities include Teddy Bear Den, Augie Reads, Childrens Miracle Network and Our Saviors Lutheran Church Nursery.

Loki House

Rediscovering Roots, LEaving Legacies

Goal: : Collect (listen to) stories of children and the elderly for the purpose of discovering how distinct people define their roots and leave their legacy.

Projects: Movie/Mixer for Augie First Year Students. Arrange for Augie musical ensembles to visit homes in the Sioux Falls Community. Volunteer at Childrens Care Hospital and School.

Lookout House

Food for the Soul: In Every Community

Goal: Become active participants in combating hunger through sustainable means.

Projects: Raise awareness of hunger through service with Meals on Wheels and serving at the Banquet. Organize a hunger awareness campaign that will collaborate with Augustana Social Justice and Advocacy groups in organizing a 25 hour famine. Open theme house to show a documentary and provide a place for discussion on what leaders can do to solve the problem. Sponsor speakers and educate the community on the seriousness of this topic. In addition sponsor a coin drive and t-shirt sales as fundraising avenues to raise money for Heifer International.

Menlo Annex

Amor Est Vitae Essentia: Love is the Essence of Life

Goal: Show love to God's children by volunteering with organizations that work on behalf of children with disabilities, illness, ethnic differences and troubled pasts.

Projects: Engaging with children and working on their behalf with the following organizations: Childrens Care Hospital, Childrens Home Society, Childrens Miracle Network and Augie Reads.

Nobel House

Building a Foundation for Tomorrow

Goal: Encourage youth to lead a life of success by celebrating their talents.

Projects: Visit and play with the children staying at Avera McKennan. Volunteer two days a month at YMCA After School Program. Serve at the Sioux Falls Banquet; specifically spend time in the playroom. Participate in Sioux Falls public middle schools "Career Days."

Nordland House

Spirit of Peace

Goal: Serve as an example of healthy and organic living by promoting environmental awareness.

Projects: Volunteer and contribute to the East Dakotah Food; invest time with a local Midwestern farm cooperative; reduce the electricity use of the Nordland House by 20%; recycle paper, plastic, aluminum and cardboard in the house; create an indoor herb garden and outdoor produce garden; invite students, faculty and staff to monthly meals and discuss "The Omnivores Dilemma" with Dr. Swart leading the discussion.

Odin House

Lean from the Past, Lead in the Future

Goal: Remember the influence of senior citizens and the enrichment they bring to the younger generation by raising awareness for serving the elderly in our local community.

Projects: Volunteer at Good Samaritan Village. The group has adopted Evelyn Anderson, a resident at Good Samaritan. Evelyn has a rich past to include serving the in the Peace Corps. As both a house and individually, members plan to spend consistent time with her; provide monthly activities at Good Samaritan for all residents. This will include celebration of Grandparents Day, Christmas celebration and Mothers Day Tea.

Olsen House

Bringing Hope and Faith to the Future

Goal: Bring hope to children who face difficulties that constantly challenge their faith.

Projects: Stuffed animal and toy drive for the Childrens Care Hospital, Sanford pediatric floors & Avera pediatric floors; participate in Childrens Miracle Network radio telethon for childrens cancer. Activity nights with children staying at Avera McKennan and Sanford hospitals and volunteering at Eugene Field Elementary to plan Fun Friday.

Terning House

Helping Hands, Sharing Hearts

Goal: Work with underprivileged residents in Sioux Falls community.

Volunteer throughout the year with Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization, volunteer at Banquet twice each semester and bell ring for the Salvation Army at Christmas.

Valhalla House

Connecting for a Cause: Role Models for Freshmen Women

House: Valhalla House

Goal: Assist the Augustana community one freshman woman at a time.

Projects: Host a social gathering in the house to welcome freshmen women to Augustana College; encourage freshmen women to get involved with Operation Christmas Child. As a part of this project there will be Christmas cookie baking and caroling; volunteer at Childrens Home Society; invite freshmen women to their house for chick flicks and female bonding; assist freshmen with stress management. Assist with study tips and recommend healthy ways to deal with pressure and anxiety.
