FRENCH CLUB CONSTITUTION
The following document is the Constitution of Le Cercle Francais, The French Club at Augustana College, Sioux Falls, SD.
ARTICLE I NAME
The name of this Club shall be Le Cercle Francais.
ARTICLE II EMBLEM
The emblem of this Club shall be the Fleur de lis.
ARTICLE III PURPOSE
The purpose of this club shall be: to stimulate an encourage French cultural activities on the Augustana College Campus and to increase the knowledge and appreciation of the Augustana Community for the cultural contributions of the French-speaking world.
ARTICLE IV MEMBERSHIP AND PRIVILEGES
Membership in Le Cercle Francais shall be open to any undergraduate, graduate, or non-traditional Augustana student who is interested in French language and culture. Students need not be French or MFL majors or minors to hold positions as officers in the Cabinet, to be members of the Club, or to attend any event sponsored by the Club.
ARTICLE V CABINET AND OFFICERS
The Officers of Le Cercle Francais shall constitute the Cabinet. The term of Cabinet Officers shall be for one year (May 1-April 30). There shall be no limit to the number of times students may hold the same or different Cabinet positions. The Cabinet Officers and their duties shall be as follows:
President (e): Shall preside over Cabinet meetings; shall reserve the MFL seminar room (HUM 304) for Cabinet meetings with the Humanities Division Office and; shall remind Cabinet members of upcoming meetings.
Premier Ministre: Shall preside over Cabinet meetings in the absence of the president and; shall serve as Chair of any sub-committees.
Secretaire du Cabinet: shall record any minutes of the Cabinet meetings; shall distribute copies of the minutes to other Cabinet members before the next meeting of the Cabinet and; shall maintain an up-to-date membership list.
Ministre de la Publicite et de la Communication: Shall create posters, flyers, etc. for any campus activities sponsored by the Club; shall serve as liaison between the Club and Augustana College newspaper and radio and; shall send announcement of campus events sponsored by the club via e-mail to the members of the Club.
ARTICLE VI FACULTY ADVISOR
The term of the Faculty Advisor shall be indefinite. Duties of the Faculty Advisor are: to advise and support all activities of the club; to be responsible for the annual election of Cabinet officers and; to keep accurate and up-to-date financial records and make sure that such records and all information of the club
ARTICLE VII MEETINGS AND ELECTIONS
Meetings of the Club shall be held at selected intervals. Cabinet meetings shall be held at selected intervals. An annual election of Cabinet Officers shall be conducted in April.
ARTICLE VIII AMENDMENTS
This Constitution may be amended by a majority vote of the Cabinet Officers. In the event of a tie vote, the Faculty Advisor shall cast the deciding vote.
