Every Christmas the Augustana community takes an opportunity to sponsor the families and/or children of the Sioux Falls community who do not have all the material blessings the festive season boasts of. Christmas trees are set up around campus and then decorated with ornaments that express the variety of gift ideas for the families and children. Faculty, staff and students then take an ornament and purchase the gift(s) on it . The gift and the ornament are then returned to the tree or to the volunteer services office. The gifts are then wrapped at a wrapping party by volunteers and given to Heartland House, Children’s Home Society, and LSS Refugee and Immigration Program.
