Art Studio/Project Assistant:

(February through May, 3-5 hours per week minimum, flexible schedule) If you are organized and love being around art materials, become an Art Studio/Project Assistant at the Visual Arts Center. Earn volunteer hours and unique work experience. Tasks include:

  • Organize/sort materials in Children's Studio and storage closet
  • Organize art media in Carver classroom (papers, brushes, paints, etc)
  • Over-glaze (paint) clay projects as needed
  • Assist making glaze tile samples in clay studio
  • Assist painting an art mural in Carver Classroom; Masterpiece

Interpretations

  • Prep art materials for classes, parties, festivals as needed

Art Education Clerical Assistant

(Three Month Commitment - 3-4 hours per week minimum, flexible schedule)

  • Organize/file art lessons by media and technique
  • Catalogue art education books
  • Research backgrounds on Masterpiece Interpretation pieces
  • Sort art projects not picked up and record names on master list

Film Class Assistant:

March 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 (Saturdays); 1-2:30 p.m.

3...2.. 1...Action! Do you have an interest and some experience in the art of movie making? Have you made a mini-movie with your camcorder or digital camera? The Washington Pavilion is seeking a volunteer to assist in our new Film School art class for children ages 10 to 15. Student activities include writing a short "screenplay", preparing sets, scenes and actors and filming it all using a video or digital recorder. Upcoming class dates are March 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31 from 1-2:30 p.m. Share your love of film and movie making as you gain valuable museum experience!
