Sanford Clinic Family Medicine is Augustana's health service provider. Services include routine outpatient medical care, diagnosis and treatment of illness, immunizations, travel consultation and limited diagnostic testing.
Students are required to submit a health record
verifying
a recent physical examination and a record of required immunizations. New students must
show provider documented immunization status for measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) and
vaccination for bacterial meningitis.
Augustana College requires all full-time students to have health insurance or other
medical plan coverage. Students will be automatically enrolled in a low cost,
college-sponsored insurance plan
unless they provide proof of comparable medical care coverage
and sign a waiver at the beginning of the first term of every academic year.
Students are seen on-campus by a college nurse on weekday mornings during the academic year (fall semester, interim, spring semester). No appointment is needed to see the college nurse during morning hours.
In the afternoon, a college nurse and a nurse practitioner are available at the Sanford Clinic Family Medicine located at 6100 S. Minnesota Avenue (69th and Minnesota). No appointment is needed to see a nurse during scheduled hours.
Sanford Clinic's staff of physicians may be seen by appointment at the Minnesota Avenue clinic in the afternoon. Students must be seen by a college nurse for evaluation before an appointment will be scheduled. There is no cost for appointments at both on-campus and off-campus facilities. Students are charged for laboratory services and injectable medications.
